About Us
Who Are We?
Marij
Hi, I’m Marij. When I decided to live my dreams rather than dream my life, this led me to leave the Netherlands behind and enable people to share the wonderful underwater world through Divine Diving. Having visited many dive sites in the world, I fell for the beauty of the dive sites in and around Komodo. My catching enthusiasm and my pleasure in taking people on diving trips will make your day out an enjoyable and relaxing one. My many years of management experience, moreover, will guarantee that your trip is well organized and shipshape. Just enjoy!
Divemasters
Our divemasters are experienced professionals with whom safety always comes first, while service and fun run a close second. They are always ready to answer your questions, offer assistance, and – if you have any problems – find solutions. Of course you can also call on them for just a chat!
Crew
Our boat has a permanent crew consisting of a highly experienced captain, engineer and steward, assisted by one or more deck hands. Apart from their seamanship they are well versed in working with divers, dive equipment, and of course with guests.
Office Staff
In our office you can count on our helpful and professional staff. They will gladly offer any information you want about Divine Diving and the dives we do, as well as assist you with other issues such as finding local transport and accomodation. Of course they will always ensure a friendly, swift and correct handling of all the paperwork.
Our boat
- Our boat is called “Somba”, which means “Worship” and reflects our attitude to the dive area.
- She is eighteen meters long, four meters wide and powered by a main engine and backup engine.
- Somba is built for comfort; she has two spacious, covered passenger decks fitted with seats and mattresses, as well as an open sun deck.
Our equipment
- We only use top quality equipment from well-known brands like Suunto, Aqualung and ScubaPro.
- All of our equipment is brand new and meets all standards.
- Our equipment receives thorough cleaning and maintenance.
Our service
- On board, we serve fresh fruit, fresh lunch, coffee, tea, water and soft drinks.
- We carry plenty of fresh water and towels for you to rinse off after your dive.
- In our briefings, we will inform you about the dive site and its marine life. In addition, we have some reference works on board for you to brush up on your background information if you wish.
- We will do our utmost to enable you to live your dream during your stay with us here at Divine Diving.
Our safety first
- Somba comes equipped with liferings, lifejackets, first aid kit, and a DAN oxygen kit.
- Additionally, Somba has radio communication with the mainland, as well as GSM and GPS.
- We always dive well within our saturation limits and take at least one hour surface interval between dives.
- There is a hospital in Labuan Bajo and a recompression chamber on Bali.
Getting there and away
By air
Merpati Airlines, Trans Nusa and IAT offer flights from Den Pasar (Bali) to Labuan Bajo. Flight schedules are often subject to change, which makes an early booking unsure. It’s recommended to book your flight as soon as you arrive in Den Pasar. The offices for domestic flights are next to the international airport.
By boat
Perama offers organized boat tours to and from Bali and Lombok (visit their website www.peramatours.com and click on ‘hunting Komodo by Camera’). Pelni has the largest passenger ships throughout Indonesia: Pelni departs twice a month from Denpasar to Labuan Bajo. Pelni also sails to and from Sulawesi.
Accommodation
Tourism in Labuan Bajo is growing. In high season, it may be difficult to find accommodation, as everything is fully booked. We recommend the following:
- Golo Hill Top, a 10-minute walk up the hill
(www.golohilltop.com) - Bayviewgardens, also a 10-minute walk
